Song inspiration for tomorrow:
Danger Zone, (Kenny Loggins)
Highway to the danger zone
Ride into the danger zone…
Needing real answers to skill levels for tomorrow’s proposed hikes such as — is ‘steep ascent’ code for rock climbing with ropes? Is ‘technical terrain’ code for boulder jumping? And should one be worried about a trail with the name ‘Hurl’, ‘Ice’ or ‘Wild’? Using local knowledge beyond The Family, we returned to the scene of yesterday’s boulder dash. Here, we met Tom, an Ambassador who volunteers for the Red Rock Canyon, a knowledgeable gent in all things desert flora, red rock, sandstone, and hiking. Tom patiently answered Sloth questions, just the facts, nothing laced with embellishments on how boulders are pebbles, crevices are stepping stones and war is peace.
Indeed, all hikes proposed by The Family for tomorrow are for experienced hikers – those with special shoes and proper tools. Indeed, hikes with the words ‘ice box’, ‘hurl’ and ‘wild’ should be avoided, and the Sloth was delighted to hear honest Intel from Ambassador Tom. Surely The Family would see the light and suggest a bunny slope…
But no…Sloth is overruled and can one guess which EHO (Experienced Hikers Only ) trail is greenlit for tomorrow?
Send prayers…
