Inspiration song of the day:
Stuff Like That (1978, Quincy Jones)
What makes you feel like doin’ stuff like that?
What makes you feel like doin’ stuff like that…
What to do, what to see, when to auto drive, when not, where to stop, what to photo op, who’s a friendly, who’s not, what to eat, whassup with magnolias?, is that a casino floating? did we lose the humidity?, did we lose green vegetables? Who eats an all meat diet?? Are we still in Texas? Who those cowgirls?
Having navigated through the backroads of Alabama, more backroads in Mississippi, we eventually landed on I-20 along with a steady stream of non stop traffic. The terrain shifted from southern Pine, to southwest Southern Pine (I made that up, but think a shorter version of southern pine that lacks water) and soon after crossing the Mississippi, the lush green foliage took on a sepia hue and the temperatures soared with an oven-like feel.
Completing 1400 miles in 2 days of driving, The Mother Road, Route 66 is finally on tomorrow’s horizon. And we couldn’t be more excited for our first stop…stay tuned.
